The Google Summer of Code (GSoC) is an annual program, first held from May to August 2005, in which Google awards stipends (of US$5,500, as of 2014) to all students who successfully complete a requested free and open-source software coding project during the summer. Who can apply:
Pretty much anyone with a brain and heart of a programmer, must be a student, and 18 years or older.
All development occurs online; there is no requirement to travel as part of the program.
May 19 – August 22, 2014.
$5500 (more than Rs. 3 lakhs)
How to Apply:
Please note that applications would open on March 10 but the advance notice is for students to get sufficient time to prepare their applications. The mentoring organizations for 2014 have been announced and you can check them here.
