Acer unveils Liquid S2, which proudly boasts its ‘4K or 3840 × 2160 pixels’ video recording capability. With the competition getting tougher between Smartphone manufacturers, Acer also entered the race with its 6 inch latest flagship device i.e. Liquid S2.
Spec-wise, this phone is no less than any of the flagship phones released by any of the manufacturer. It steals the attention with its 6-inch Full HD IPS display which offers 1920 X 1080 pixels resolution at 368ppi protected by a curved Gorilla Glass3 screen. The Phablet is powered by a quad core Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 chipset clocked at 2.2GHz supported by 2 GB of RAM. It has 16 GB of internal memory and an expandable memory of 128 GB via micro SD card. The Phablet will run on android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

Coming to the camera section, the phone will be equipped with a 13 megapixel rear camera with BSI sensor and LED flash ring and a 2 megapixel camera on the front. But the phones most prominent feature is its capability to record 4k videos, which is the first phone to do so. Also it could shoot 1080p videos at 60fps and the rear camera will be able to capture full panorama photos by offering up to 27 megapixels in a single picture. And it added a new feature called quick first shot, which lets you capture an image straight off the unlock screen.
Phablet, not missing any spot, will come with all the popular connectivity options of Bluetooth, NFC, GPS, AGPS, Wi-Fi, 3G and 4G. Other features include a 3300mAH battery, digital speakers by Dolby with a suite of sensors – light sensor, proximity sensor, gyro sensor, accelerometer and magnetometer. The interface would be customised by Acer’s Float UI which includes Acer HD Channel, Acer Remote Files, Acer Docs, Acer Data Traffic Manager, Acer Float caller, Acer Float Apps (maps, notes, camera, calculator ), Acer Live Screen, Acer Print and many more features.
Though Acer has announced the Liquid S2 today but the pricing and availability details will be revealed at IFA event in Berlin, later this week. But it is assumed that S2 Phablet will be available in colour options of red and black at the end of October in many countries. Acer will sell this handset in Europe, no plans for India yet.
“Pricing and exact availability is yet to be disclosed.”
If Acer is able to provide this killer Phablet with a pocket friendly price tag, then surely they would be able to affect the markets of upcoming phones such as Galaxy Note 3, iPhone 5S, HTC One Max and newly launched flagship devices like Sony Xperia Z Ultra. But it’s expected to be launched with a heavy price tag, so the success is still a question.
